Salary Calculator
The Salary Calculator converts an hourly rate into estimated daily, weekly, monthly, and annual gross pay. It is useful for comparing job offers, contracts, schedules, or pay rates when the same number of working hours is used each week.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the hourly pay rate before taxes and deductions.
- Enter the expected hours worked per week; 40 hours is used as the default example.
- Review daily, weekly, monthly, and annual gross-pay estimates.
- Adjust the hours-per-week value when your normal schedule differs from a standard 40-hour week.
Hourly-to-salary formulas
Weekly pay = hourly rate × hours per week; annual pay = weekly pay × 52; monthly pay = annual pay ÷ 12; daily pay = hourly rate × 8 for the displayed 8-hour example.
- The calculator assumes the entered hourly rate stays constant and the same weekly hours are worked throughout the year.
- The monthly figure is an annualized average rather than a statement that every calendar month contains the same number of working hours.
Worked examples
€20 per hour at 40 hours per week
A worker enters an hourly rate of €20 and 40 hours per week.
€20 × 40 = €800 per week; €800 × 52 = €41,600 per year; €41,600 ÷ 12 ≈ €3,466.67 per month.
The estimated gross annual salary is €41,600.
Changing the weekly schedule
A €20 hourly rate is paired with 30 hours per week instead of 40.
€20 × 30 × 52 = €31,200 per year.
Reducing weekly hours changes the annualized gross figure even though the hourly rate stays the same.
Understanding the result
These are gross pay estimates before income tax, social contributions, insurance, pension deductions, or other payroll adjustments.
The annual estimate assumes 52 paid weeks. Unpaid leave, variable schedules, bonuses, overtime, or seasonal work can change actual yearly earnings.
Important notes
Use your actual expected paid hours when comparing offers.
For country-specific take-home pay, use current tax and payroll rules rather than treating this simple conversion as a net-pay calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert hourly pay to annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by the hours per week and then by 52 weeks. For example, €20 × 40 × 52 = €41,600 gross per year.
Does the calculator show take-home pay?
No. It estimates gross pay before taxes and other deductions.
Can I use a non-40-hour work week?
Yes. Enter your actual expected hours per week to get a different annualized estimate.

Salary calculator use cases
Searches for salary calculators often mean more than one pay-period conversion. This tool is useful for translating an annual salary into monthly, weekly, biweekly, or hourly figures so you can compare offers, plan a budget, or sanity-check a payroll calculation.
A common annual-to-hourly estimate uses 52 weeks and 40 hours per week, giving 2,080 working hours per year. Actual take-home pay can differ because taxes, benefits, overtime, unpaid leave, and local payroll rules are not included unless a page explicitly says otherwise.
