Zakat Calculator
This calculator provides a basic arithmetic estimate using the qualifying net wealth, nisab threshold and holding-period condition selected by the user. It is intended to help organise figures, not decide religious obligations.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the qualifying amount and a nisab threshold from the trusted guidance you follow, then select whether the relevant holding-period condition has been met.
- Review the worked example for zakat calculator and compare the inputs with your own units.
- Change one assumption at a time and recalculate if you need a second scenario.
Basic estimate at 2.5%
When the applicable conditions are met and qualifying wealth is at or above the selected threshold: estimate = qualifying net wealth × 0.025.
- This simplified estimate assumes the user has already identified eligible assets, relevant liabilities, threshold and timing. The tool does not calculate asset eligibility or differing scholarly methods.
- The result is calculated from the values entered; the page does not independently verify assumptions, data quality or real-world suitability.
Worked examples
Example with a user-selected threshold
Suppose qualifying net wealth is 12,000, the threshold entered is 5,000 in the same currency, and the applicable holding-period condition is met.
12,000 × 0.025 = 300
The illustrative basic estimate is 300 currency units.
Understanding the result
Separating the asset calculation from the rate multiplication can make it easier to review your figures before acting.
Zakat rules may differ by asset type, debts, income, school of thought, timing and local authority; a simple calculator cannot provide a fatwa.
Important notes
Use current guidance from a trusted scholar or recognised local Zakat authority and enter a threshold expressed in the same currency.
Displayed figures are rounded for readability. Preserve more precision during intermediate calculations and verify the labels and units before using the estimate.
