Unit Price Comparison Calculator

The Unit Price Comparison Calculator divides each package price by its quantity so you can compare products of different sizes on a consistent per-unit basis. It is useful for groceries, household supplies, materials, and bulk purchases.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the price and quantity for Product A.
  2. Enter the price and quantity for Product B.
  3. Use the same currency and equivalent units for both products.
  4. Compare the calculated prices per unit to see which is lower.

Unit price formula

Unit price = package price ÷ quantity in the package.

  • Both products must use comparable units, such as euros per kilogram or dollars per litre.
  • A lower unit price can indicate better value, but product quality, waste, freshness, and package usability may also matter.

Worked examples

Compare two packs

A 500 g pack costs €2.00; a 750 g pack costs €2.70.

€2.00 ÷ 500 = €0.004 per gram; €2.70 ÷ 750 = €0.0036 per gram.

The 750 g pack has the lower price per gram.

Understanding the result

Compare quantity units before drawing a conclusion.

The calculator only compares price and quantity, not quality or other product differences.

Important notes

Use the same currency for both products.

Make sure quantity units are equivalent before comparing per-unit results.
